Chris Statham dip.sport.psy

Chris has been working in the fitness industry for over 15 years. He also holds a diploma in Sports Psychology and has worked and managed numerous private gyms in Manchester and Yorkshire. Chris currently runs a highly successful personal training business. When Chris is not writing or teaching for CORE fitness education he may be found swim coaching, teaching studio cycling or fuelling his sporting passions. Chris is also an experienced HSE approved emergency first aid tutor and British triathlon coach and a founding member of the York triathlon club. As an experienced, tutor, assessor and verifier chris oversees many of the systems in place to ensure quality and standards are maintained.

 

Dr Dane Vishnubala MBBS

Dane has been working in the fitness industry for over 10 years. He has worked in numerous private and council run gyms both in the South and the North of England. As well as personal training and studio cycling, Dane is also an experienced GP exercise referral instructor and Cardiac rehabilitation instructor. Dane has previously worked for an awarding body in their research and development department. When he is not teaching or writing for CORE fitness education, he works as a doctor at York Hsopital and has a special interest in Sport and exercise medicine. Dane has recently held an honorary academic clinical fellow in medical education position with Hull York Medical school and continues to teach medical students.  Dane is also an experienced England basketball coach and currently completing his masters in Sport and Exercise Medicine with the University of Bath. Currently Dane sits on the FIA Exercise referral advisory commitee and the REPs level 4 Advisory panel.

 

Mrs Dee Patton B.A. P.G.C.E

Dee has been involved in the education sector for over 22 years. She holds a degree in English and Theology from the University of Manchester and a PGCE. When she is not planning our lessons or providing educational advice for CORE fitness education, she works as a primary school teacher at St Georges RC. Dee is also a qualified special needs teacher and is currently the school’s Special Educational Needs (SEN) co-ordinator (SENCO).

 

Dr Kiran Varadharajan MBBS MRCS pt1

Kiran graduated from Kings College Medical school London and currently works in London. Kiran enjoys teaching and regularly teaches both medical students and instructors. Kiran is one of the leaders of CORE's research and development department and has a keen interest in developing education resources both e learning based and the design of our face to face courses. Kirans knowledge and experience helps CORE create great theory based resources and help to push the boundaries in standards on our exercise referral course. When Kiran is not working for the NHS or providing educational input, he enjoy playing tennis.

 

Dr Eusra Hassan MB ChB M.Phil

Eusra graduated from the University of Liverpool and is currently working as a paediatric doctor in Manchester. She enjoys teaching both medical students and instructors. She puts her M.Phil background to good use carrying out and reviewing new research on a regular basis. Eusra currently holds the prestigious title of academic clinical fellow in paediatrics and as well as being a specialist trainee, she also carries out related research in her field of interest which is paediatric neurology. As well as providing advice on all medically related topics and reviewing our resources, Eusra is CORE's leader in all child health related qualifications putting her special interest in child development to good use. When she is not working for the NHS or CORE, Eusra enjoys copoeira and going to the gym.

 

Sarah Pycroft BA MA PGCME

Sarah has been involved in the education sector for over five years. She holds a first class degree in Education from the University of York, PGCE and is a masters in Education from the University of Manchester. When she is not planning our lessons or providing educational advice for CORE fitness education, she works as a secondary school teacher at Cockburn college of Arts and a freelance Educational consultant. Sarah is also an qualified netball and basketball coach and captains the Rothwell netball club.

 

Andrew Hall BSc (Hons) MCSP HPC

Andrew is a qualified physiotherapist, qualifying with first class honours from Coventry University before embarking on a variety of specialities in the NHS. Andrew now has a special interest in neurological conditions and stroke and currently works at the Acute Stroke Unit at York District Hospital. When Andrew is not writing or teaching for us or working in the NHS, he enjoys judo, going to the gym and reading history. 

 

 

Nicholas Worsey BSc

Nick has been working in the fitness industry for over 11 years. Nick works as a personal trainer and has in the past managed a popular London gym. He holds a degree in Sports science and currently runs a successful personal training business. When Nick isnt teaching or assessing for CORE fitness education he can be found working on the MEND program for overweight and obese children or fuelling his own gym addiction.

 

Joanne Battson

Jo has been working in the fitness industry for over 12 years as both a personal trainer and an exercise to music (ETM) instructor. She has worked and managed numerous gyms and currently works as the Studio manager of a Nuffield Health gym. Jo’s passion is ETM and she is an experienced freelance studio instructor teaching a wide variety of studio based classes as well as Aqua. Notably, she has also developed a 6 week intensive nutrition and weight loss programme called Boot camp for a major fitness chain. When Jo is not teaching or writing for CORE fitness education as part of the group exercise research and development team, she can be found teaching Army cadets for their BTEC and Duke of Edinburgh awards.

 

Dr Michael Cooke MBBS BSc

Michael is a qualified doctor working in Leeds with a degree in sports science, a rare combination! He is well published and has presented many of his research. His research interests lie in obesity and biomechanics. Michael also has a specialist interest in Sport and exercise medicine. Michael is one of the key members of our exercise referral and level 4 qualifications research and development team. Michael has completed his fitness qualifications with CORE Fitness Education and we are proud to call him one of our graduates. When Michael is not working in the NHS or writing for CORE Fitness Education he can be found pursuing a variety of sports.

 

Ann-Marie Jeffery

Ann-Marie has been working in the industry for over 12 years. She is a qualified and currently a practicing personal trainer, however her passion lies in Exercise to music and she teaches numerous classes all over York from studio classes to aqua to fitness pilates. Previously Ann Marie has worked as a studio coordinator for two large gym chains as well as develop a boot camp programme for a large gym chain.  With her wide range of experience and depth of knowledge we are delighted to welcome Ann Marie into our Group Exercise research and development team. When Ann Marie is not teaching, assessing or writing for CORE Fitness Education she can be found teaching classes all over York or keeping a watchful eye on her two sons!

 

Dr Lena Vishnubala MBBS BSc

Lena is qualified medical doctor graudating from UCL with an interest in acute medicine. She is currently working in A+E in London. Lena is currently undertaking post graduate qualifications in Education and we are delighted to have her scientific and education knowledge on our reasearch and development team. Lena spends much of her time ensuring all our courses are up to date with the latest research and is involved in carrying out CORE's own educational research. When she is not working in the NHS or working for CORE Fitness Education, Lena is a keen gym user and loves travelling. Lena and Dane from our team are twins, Lena is the older by 15 minutes!

 

Sarah Westerby RN

Sarah graduated from the University of Hull and currently works as a Cardiothoracic Nurse at Castle Hill Hospital in Hull. Sarah is a key member of the First Aid course team, developing reviewing and teaching on the course. Working as a nurse, Sarah adds her own experiences and first had knowledge to the course content as well as to the students on course day. When Sarah is not working for the NHS or CORE she enjoys running.
